Barre2Barre is hands down the most beautiful studio I’ve ever been to. The cosy space was such a great distraction from the burn of yet another plié.

Barre2Barre strays from the traditional barre-only offering with its range of barre-focused classes like bootcamp, yoga and even bounce. You heard me right, Barre2Barre also offers bounce classes – the one where you groove to the instructors’ playlist on a trampoline (imagine that burn!).

Class

I attended the Barre+Yoga class taught by Denise. It had a gentle enough class description, promising a restorative session for the spine. I had attended a very strong flow class the day before and was looking forward to a gentle practice to recover from the ache.

What I had thought to be a gentle session turned out to be an intensive 30 minute barre sequence (though according to Denise, this was just a quarter of the intensity of the usual BarreAmped class) followed by 30 minutes of yoga stretches to cool down.

Whilst I wasn’t prepared for a strong class, I really enjoyed the session. Denise gave very clear instructions and demonstrated when needed. She pushed us hard but not to the point where I was crying for help in my head and wondering why I was there (which admittedly happens a lot to me lately).

Check out their website for a full list of classes.

Studio

The studio channels a Venice-beach-in-LA kind of vibe, with its teal/wood/brick wall combination.

You are greeted by the front desk (and the lovely scent of essential oils) the moment you walk through the glass door. The reception area breaks the space between resting area/toilet to your left and the actual studio to your right.

This studio definitely ranks #1 in my list of most beautiful studios in Singapore. Yoga Movement Robertson Quay held that spot for sometime but Barre2Barre beats it hands down.

But of course it’s not all about the decor. Pretty furnishings may draw new students but it’s always the classes that bring the students coming back again.

Barre2Barre uses Affirmats from the US. I love how cushy this mat is but it’s a tad too rough for being on the forearms. But I suppose this is perfect for a predominately barre studio as we’re seldom on our hands.

Changing Room

Even the toilet is beautifully put together (!!!!!).
The vanity area has everything you need to freshen up and more. It features toiletries from Ashley&Co and Yves Saint Lauren – very luxe.
Did I mention that the space is scented by Ashley&Co and Jo Malone diffusers dotted around the studio? I feel like I’m in a spa.
There is a wall of lockers that come with keys (attached to leather straps, mind you).
There is 1 shower cubicle with Ashley&Co body wash and shampoo provided and 1 teensy tiny toilet cubicle.
There is a changing room through a hidden wall outside the changing area (to the right of the potted plants in the photo below.

Amenities

The resting area is a retail and chill-out area rolled into one. So many things to see! So many things to buy!

The retail section features a range of Lorna Jane and Onzie activewear, Ashley&Co toiletries and even Clipper tea (you heard me right).

Location

The studio sits on the second floor of a shophouse along Hong Kong Street (which is fast becoming the next fitness studio hub), where Yoga Lab used to be. You’d see a lighted signboard with the Barre2Barre logo on it from the street level.

The stairway up is peppered with punny motivational quotes to get you pumped up for your class.

There are parallel parking spaces along Hong Kong Street and the neighbouring streets but don’t expect to find lots during weeknights (unless you’re really early). The roads are pretty busy even on weekends given the plethora of studios that now operate in that area.
There is a multi-storied carpark at Riverside Mall if you can’t find a spot along the road.
For those taking the MRT, it is just a short stroll across the river from Clarke Quay MRT.

Classes attended at Barre2Barre were paid for by The Yoga Society
